Cooksey & Company Transcription Services

Following is some general information for transcribers who may be interested in working with us. If you are interested in contracting with us after reviewing the following information,  please send us your Independent Contractor Information by clicking on the box at the end of this page.  We would love to hear from you!

FORMATTING:

We work with Microsoft Word files only.  Our transcript formats are available for downloading from our web site after you receive a Username and Password.

PROCEDURES:

Cooksey Transcription provides audio files to our transcriptionists in various ways:

1. We post the file for downloading
2. We email a link to the file
3. We email the encrypted audio file

Any information from the customer such as document titles, spellings, speakers, etc., along with a CT job number are emailed to the transcriptionist at the same time the file is sent.  We request a "Reply" so that we know the file was received and is being worked on immediately.

We assume transcriptionists who want to work with us have the necessary equipment and software to download and play the various types of audio files.  Research into products and software is available by clicking LINKS.

After transcribing the file, proofreading and running the SpellCheck, the transcriber e-mails the Word file to CT.

EXPECTED TURNAROUND TIMES:

Quick and consistent turnaround of our transcripts is essential.  We ask that transcribers not accept files unless they are free to work on them immediately.  Guidelines for expected turnaround will be posted on our Transcriber LOGIN page.

PAYMENT TO INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS

We pay per character, so format style does not affect income.   After we receive your Independent Contractor Information, we may send you a short file to try for which you will not get paid.  If that goes smoothly, we will add your name to our list and the next time we are in need of transcribers, we will contact you.
