Our rates are based on the Microsoft Word Character Count. Billing per character ensures that our customers are only being charged for what they get, regardless of the format style, the length of the line or the number of lines per page.
Transcription Rates
Audio files of one hour or less are usually delivered within 6 hours and billed at .004 per character
For longer files our rates are as follows:
Standard delivery (within 1 week) is .003 per character. High priority delivery (within 48 hours) is .004 per character. RUSH delivery (within 24 hours) is .005 per character Minimum Transcript Fee: $20.00
Estimate Fees
The best way to estimate your fees is to look at an existing transcript in Microsoft Word that is of similar size to the file you plan to upload, check the character count (with spaces) and multiply it by the above rates.
If you do not have an exemplar transcript to look at, a general estimate is about 1,000 characters per 1 minute of recording. This estimate is based on averages of files we have transcribed. Your actual number of characters per minute may vary considerably. For instance, if there is silent time in the voice file, there will be fewer characters per minute. On the other hand, if the speakers are talking very quickly, there may be more characters per minute.
